Vincent Franceschini is the Senior Director of Future Technologies for Hitachi Data
Systems, reporting directly to Hitachi Data Systems’ Chief Technology Officer. In this
role he is responsible for defining the future directions of Hitachi Data Networking
solutions on a worldwide basis and for selecting the key future technologies and
solutions that Hitachi Data Systems will take to market.
Mr Franceschini is Hitachi Data Systems’ primary representative to a number of
leading Industry Associations work groups, including the Storage Networking Industry
Association (SNIA). Re-elected Board Director of SNIA in 2006, Franceschini is the
current Chairman of the SNIA Board of Directors, leading this organization to fulfil its
storage industry mission. SNIA is a worldwide non-profit organisation delivering
architectures, technology standard proposals, education and services that will propel
storage networking solutions into the broader worldwide market.
Franceschini was previously Vice Chairman of the SNIA Board 2002 and 2003 and
Treasurer of the SNIA Executive Committee in 2004. In 2005, he also led a new
initiative at SNIA to define the role of the Storage Industry in the Grid solutions
space. Prior to this, Franceschini drove the launch of the SNIA strategic alliances
program as well as the SNIA International Committee, a group he previously chaired
to organize the worldwide expansion and coordination of SNIA in Australia / New
Zealand, Canada, China, Europe, India, Japan and South Asia. Besides his
leadership role within SNIA, Franceschini co-chairs the Storage Networking
Community Group of the Open Grid Forum.
With over 16 years experience in developing technology solutions, Franceschini’s
expertise covers storage networking technologies, solutions and markets, software
development, real-time systems, customer support and technical marketing.
In his previous role at Hitachi Data Systems, Franceschini was Storage Networking
Solutions Manager, responsible for determining the European strategic direction of
the company’s storage and fibre channel products, reporting to the European storage
division and the Japanese and US Research & Development laboratories. An
accomplished and experienced public speaker, Franceschini has been working with
storage networking I/O and management technologies since Hitachi Data Systems
first began developing fibre channel-ready storage products.
Before joining Hitachi Data Systems in 1995, Vincent Franceschini developed realtime
client/server Computer-Integrated Manufacturing applications for the Ford Motor
Company. He began his career in technology at Digital Equipment Corporation as a
software engineer and achieved his “Ingénieur Informatique” degree in Artificial
Intelligence & Industrial Applications from a leading IT University in Paris, France.
