“To blog or not to blog?”
February 6th, 2006
Well…that is a question I have decided to start answering by at least trying it out… One of the reasons my colleagues suggested I start blogging is my international IT Industry background.
Let’s face it - The storage business landscape is predominantly shaped by US Corporations… but Storage users outside the US represent very large business opportunities driving up to 60% or more of global corporation revenues. So this cannot be ignored - I certainly don’t.
Those IT users have also very interesting feedback to give and comments to make. A couple of years ago I drove the international expansion of the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) in Japan, China, South-Asia, India, Australia & New-Zealand… what a breathtaking opportunity! Different markets, different rules, different requirements… but with many common business & technology roots. Developing a business relationship between regions of the world remains a challenge - no surprise here and the storage business is no exception. Research and innovation also happen all around our planet (now including out of space!!) - who said it’s a global economy? Yes it is…
So the intent of my blog is not to tell US vs. RoW stories but instead to provide view points on IT industry topics from a more international perspective. I certainly won’t claim to know all cultures and business customs from all countries – far from it - but my job with Hitachi Data Systems for the Office of the CTO has allowed me (and still does) to meet with lots of IT users and industry experts from many different places. So I’d like to share some of my findings & thoughts with you…

Welcome to the blogosphere Vincent, we look forward to hearing your perspective.
