Reality Distortion Field

I’m sure that when this is referenced with Mr. Steve Jobs of Apple fame everyone can understand RDF and if not check out here and here.  Well in this case I’m extending RDF to EMC’s circus this week where by the gaudiness of the event and the recycling of content is standard fair.  It is this last point that I see the widespread application of the RDF.  The statement of the obvious, preexisting fact, and repeating other’s strategies as if they were your own is pretty darn brazen.  The horrible thing is that many of the willing want to believe that EMC is indeed providing sincere innovation, but folks they aren’t.  The image that I have in my head is of water on the horizon in the desert, the reality is that it is a bunch of hot air creating a mirage that fades away when you really look at it.

For proof, I’m going to point out Hitachi as a Green company.  The first and most logical point that I want to bring to the audiences attention is that the Kyoto Accord was signed where, that’s right Japan.  Oh and wait, Hitachi is a Japanese company, hmm.  Oh and let’s talk about RHOS compliance, Hitachi was there very very early.  Further there are novel innovations which come out year after year and are placed in Hitachi’s annual CSR report and page 92 is particularly interesting as it points out Hitachi’s level of achievement.  Hitachi has and will continue to do other things in terms of innovation in the area of being Environmentally Responsible including looking at the full lifecycle of our offerings from manufacturing through decommissioning/recycling (check out Factor X).  So good news for everyone, this recycled content that my colleague Asim is talking about is EMC yet again copying Hitachi.  We innovate they copy, it is a great cycle.

Michael, thank you for the link to this post. This is something we can sink out teeth into and precisely what we’ve been looking for to make our case. Of course now I want to know who the go-to source is at HDS for these conversations.

I’d like to dig deeper into Hitachi’s efforts.
