My New Job
by Michael Hay on January 24, 2009
Well it has been since November of last year that I have been in Japan. It is still not early enough for me to have any opinion on my job as it has not been six months. I’m a firm believer that it takes at least that long in a new job to know up from down. I do want to convey one thing, which reminds me of my upbringing in New Orleans, hospitality from really great people. I do have to say that all of the Japanese people I have been involved with at in Japan have shown me great warmth and kindness. As my Japanese language teacher says Japanese people are very helpful and kind. Further as one of the co-workers who I have a great deal of respect for says, even if they don’t speak someone’s language a Japanese person will try and help somehow, and the fact is that you may never know you were helped. So as a result of all of this I have to say that I can better appreciate the company that I work for and the values and culture which are reflected in Hitachi Data Systems in the United States.
For now the only thing that I know for sure is that I want to express a sincere thanks to all of my work colleagues and personal friends here in Japan.
