Pete has spent the past 15 years in the storage industry with a startup and large vendors and also as an industry analyst. As director of strategic and solutions marketing at Hitachi Data Systems, Pete is responsible for helping to craft and communicate the vision and direction of HDS’ product portfolio.
Prior to joining HDS, Pete held leadership roles within the product management organization at at NetApp, with his last post as senior product manager for NetApp’s Data ONTAP portfolio. Prior to NetApp, Pete was senior analyst at ESG where he authored a seminal 2002 research report on the then nascent market for content storage and unstructured data entitled, “Reference Information: The Next Wave”. Pete also spent 5 years combined at EMC and CLARiiON/DG where he helped to launch EMC’s xSP Service Provider business unit and served as lead competitive analyst and product strategist, respectively. Pete started his career in the storage industry with NetVault, a BUR software startup that grew out of AT&T Bell Labs in the mid-1990s.
Pete earned a B.S. in Architecture from Roger Williams University and has completed a variety of Executive Education courses throughout his career. When he’s not blogging or thinking about storage, you will likely find him in his garden, behind his camera, or coaching one of his kids’s sporting events.
