A customer’s Blog on installing a USP
by Hu Yoshida on Apr 28, 2006
I came across a post on the RupturedMonkey blog, which is documenting a customer’s experience in installing our USP with virtualization and migration of a CX600 to an AMS200, using Tiered Storage Manager. He has also employed Logical Partitioning for mainframe and open systems use.
I believe the author is SNIG who has contributed several knowledgeable comments to my blog. I don’t know who he is or who he works for. If you want to get a real time view of our products from and unbiased user, add this blog to your feed reader.
He’s documented his experience with installing our products starting with selecting an 84 TB purchase, and then documenting his equipment arriving; Equipment Installations and First Impressions. After the install process he’s given detailed information and reviews about the AMS200, as well as the USP1100. In the furture he plans to implement Tuning Manager, Shadow Image, and Universal Replicator
Snig, Thank you for the detailed reviews and responses, I’ve signalled to the appropriate individuals in development to read your excellent review and to make changes as needed. Thank you, obtaining feedback from an expert customer is important, we’re listening and will use your thoughts to improve.

i want to know your perspective about IP SAN, do you agree with this argument that the IP SAN will replace the Fiber SAN?
No I don’t think IP SAN will replace FC SAN. They will coexist for some time.
I know that I and others here at HDS are really appreciative of Snig’s detailed review, obtaining information from a customer experience is gold for us.
