What’s in a name?

If you have been watching the blog you will have noticed that the name has changed to “Techo-muse”.  There are a couple of obvious play on words such as the manga Technoman or the fact that there is a minor reference to Electronica music; however, the reason for the change is that Ken Wood and I have intentionally been blogging about more than storage for quite a while.  While the blog did start out as focusing on storage only topics we have moved to a much broader discussion.  As you can see from our announcement earlier this week and my previous blog post this was kind of a catalyst point that tipped the scales so to speak in changing the name.

This year is a special year for Hitachi; we are turning 100 and are arguably the first IT company to do so.  (Yes I know that GE is well over 100 years at this point, but they have largely exited the IT business.  With some exceptions such as the healthcare division of GE.)  Further our innovative spirit and ability to meet customer needs is just getting started in my opinion.  Living in Japan I can fully witness the power and prowess of the Hitachi Group, and it really is something to behold.  So the name change is for me a moment signifying that HDS and the Hitachi group are moving into new territory.

The next era is just beginning!
