Change in Locale
by Michael Hay on Oct 27, 2008
Well, sorry for not posting more regularly, but I’ve had a significant change of events both in my life and career. Specifically, I’ve taken a new position within Hitachi in Japan and preparation for it has taken quite a bit of my time. I’ll be there for 2-3 years and I’m looking forward to working more deeply with the various R&D teams at Hitachi Ltd. in Japan. As things progress I’ll be posting relevant happenings and goings on. It is my sincerest hope that I can uncover and point out more areas where Hitachi is innovating quietly today. As much as the pundits state that HDS is hampered by Hitachi’s lineage and background, it is the fundamental R&D and culture which makes working for a Hitachi so great in my opinion. I would say that if you cut me I’d bleed red, but that is not as powerful a statement about IBMers where if you cut one of them they’d bleed blue. Since Hitachi is one of the greenest technology companies that I know, perhaps I should say that I’d bleed green, but then I’d be a Vulcan…

I certainly hope that you come to enjoy your time in Japan as I have. I do wish that I had stayed longer but needed to return here. If you’re up for tips on places to discover let me know.
