Chief ScientistContact Claus
As Chief Scientist, Claus is responsible for new technology research related to storage applications, storage virtualization, and intelligent storage functions. Claus joined Hitachi Data Systems in 1998 and during his tenure with the company Claus designed and patented the technology for NanoCopy, Asynchronous Point-in-Time Replication, and other related products, and continues to work with HDS business partners and other vendors on developing complementary architectures for storage solutions.
Prior to joining HDS, Claus spent 30 years with IBM development in software engineering, hardware engineering, and IBM Research. During that time, Claus was instrumental in bringing the storage industry into the modern era of intelligent storage by proposing, designing, and developing the first intelligent storage functions, which include Copy on Write technology, synchronous replication, and asynchronous replication. Between HDS and IBM, Claus holds 16 patents for storage subsystem architectures. Claus has also co-authored a book on disaster recovery called “The Resilient Enterprise” and has contributed numerous articles and white papers, and currently speaks worldwide on storage technology and storage futures.
