Last year, 2009, was a great year for midrange storage at Hitachi.  In a down economy we grew our midrange revenues and we now have hundreds of petabytes of Adaptable Modular Storage 2000 systems installed by our customers.

R&D = Innovation

Last week I was very privileged to visit the Hitachi Central Research Laboratory in Kokobunji, in Tokyo.  A few of us met with the lead team  of the laboratory and visited the site.  The facility is in an amazing location, a green oasis in harmony with the core value of environmentally-conscious R&D for the future.  [...]

A few weeks ago I visited several Hitachi facilities including one of our sustainable Data Centers in the Yokohama area.  Since it is used as a facility to host customer data I can’t reveal too much, but below are a few take aways that should interest a lot of you who are helping or leading data center [...]

Last week in London

Last week in London…
I was in the UK last week for visits with our EMEA team and to attend Storage Expo.I used to live in London as a student so it’s always interesting to see how things have changed, or not!

You know I spend too much time on email at night with the TV on because this sounds like a bad infomercial. But honestly, it is not only possible, but probably necessary, to improve your BC/DR capabilities and improve their economics.

IT you can believe in

President-elect Barack Obama arguably demonstrated his command of modern IT technologies to run a historic campaign, which not only yielded impressive online fundraising results but also organized the political effort in ways never seen before – and very successfully at that! Mr. Obama did not claim to have invented the Internet but did he make [...]

For the fourth consecutive year, HDS is positioned in the Leaders Quadrant in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Midrange Enterprise Disk Arrays report (last year’s report, release). This report is yet another boost to our overall business and follows closely behind our Strong Positive ranking in September’s MarketScope for High-End Enterprise Disk Arrays report.
