Thousands tolerate Tucci keynote to escape Orlando showers

Well, I was hoping that getting up early today would pay off and that we’d get some big news from EMC World. You can tell EMC’s folks have been busy opening Twitter accounts to make it look like there’s actually something to talk about. So, all we got from the keynotes was a regurgitation of the same market trends we’ve heard about a million times, with virtualization front and center.  Except for Storage Virtualization, which their platform can’t do. Now of course, someone has to ask about virtual profits too!!! See:  the_saltworks: @Veridictus let’s hope Tucci’s list doesn’t include Virtual Profits

So, a little birdie also told me:

jasonhiner: At @emcworld CEO Joe Tucci on 4 big trends IT: virtual data center, virtual clients, cloud computing, & virtual applications

BasRaayman: #emcworld Tucci: What’s hot in storage area: higher utilization, business continuity, backup to disk, deduplication and compression

Really?  Is that all you’ve got?

tjtar12: EMC World keynote speech on “cloud” computing creating more questions than answers. #emcworld

I guess it must have been nebulous!

More later….too bad it’s raining, otherwise there’d be more time for golfing.

    Hi Christophe,

I see you found my little saltworks Twitter dig on the virtual theme. Wall Street would appreciate the humor in “virtual profits”.

Nebulous comments, perhaps. What should we expect from the 140-character-limited world of Twitter? I’m not in Orlando, but I am hopeful when the analysts return they’ll have more to say than what I’ve read thus far. Though much of it will likely be under NDA.

Christophe, actually there was a lot more. Problem was that the wireless Internet connection broke down during the keynote. I’ll be posting a summary later today. Let’s see how you dissect that.

If you had been there you might actually be able to say somethin usefull instead of just bashing around on three tweets. ;)

    Wait, read and then talk.

    Regards,
    Bas
